Jason Momoa To Star In 'Minecraft' Live-Action Movie At Warner Bros

LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) - From the watery kingdom of Atlantis to the dangerous deserts of Arrakis, Jason Momoa may be heading to the video game world of Minecraft for Warner Bros., Variety has confirmed.



The "Aquaman", "Dune" and "Dance" stars are in talks to star in a live-action movie based upon the hugely popular Minecraft videogame. It is the most-sold game ever, with more than 238,000,000 copies sold since its 2011 release.



Jared Hess is known for directing "Napoleon Dynamite," and "Nacho Lbre" among other films.  MINECRAFT Mary Parent and Roy Lee will produce, and Jill Messick will receive a posthumous credit for working on the film prior to her death in 2018. Jon Berg, Cale Boyter, and Jon Spaihts are the executive producers. Mojang Studios (the Swedish videogame developer behind Minecraft), will produce via Lydia Winters, Vu Bui.



Momoa's next project is "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom," due for March 17, 2023. He's also revving up for "Fast and Furious 10."
